Tuesday September 6, 2011 (Optional Session)
1:00 – 5:30 FDA Microstructure Modeling Session, Dinesh Patwardhan and David Saylor
The session will be a follow-up to the Microstructure Modeling Session held at the 2010 workshop. In the 2010 workshop, participants were introduced to microstructure-based models, specifically diffuse-interface models developed at the FDA, and their potential application in cardiovascular devices with an emphasis on drug-eluting stents. This year we plan to broaden the scope and hold a series of lectures that cover other microstructure-based modeling approaches. Â Furthermore, for those interested, we also plan to have time set aside for in-depth discussion on the diffuse-interface models developed at the FDA, which will include a presentation covering the model equations, input parameters, and numerical approaches. Â We will also solicit questions from those interested in implementing the model in advance and discuss them during this time. Â
